I've got the computer keys to the kingdom!

I love the way ~
The wind
Moves the rain ~
In long sweeping
Lines ~ or in
Dancing waves ~

I have never
Seen the wind ~
Only its effect ~
On the world
Around me ~

The scents that
It carries ~
From far
Distant shores ~

I have felt the wind
Upon my face ~
Though I cannot
Return its touch ~

I have tasted rain ~
Or snow ~
Upon the wind ~

And I have heard
The lashing of
The leaves ~
In the wind’s
Embrace ~

And now I sit
And ponder ~
Can a force of
Nature feel
Emotion too ~

If so ~
I wonder if
The wind ~
Is ever lonely ~

I'm either a transplanted East Coaster or a born again West Coaster. My heart kept pulling me toward Oregon, and when I followed it I found my dream, which I am living daily. My dream of becoming a writer has come true as well. I am in the company of people who speak my language, and the sense of community is healing hurts I didn't know were there. I am very grateful for my enormous good fortune.

  1. W/herever do you fnd these gorgeous pictures? They are such good matches for the mood of your words. In this instance I appreciated the way you favor the wind. I wonder if you ever tasted it as well?

    • No, Theresa, only the rain and the snow, which are very different tastes! As for the picture, I’ve searched for many hours to find them. Sometimes finding the right picture takes much longer than writing the piece. 🙂

  2. Beautiful artwork and amazing description. Thank you.

    • John, thank you. I’ve been remarkably lucky with the photos. Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for stopping and commenting.
