Prelude to Passion

The towering clouds
And freshening breeze
Tell of the coming storm

Just so my love
Your grim face
And angry eyes
Betray your mood

You’re looking for a fight
And I’m quite happy to oblige
But while we spar
I’ll bite my lip as
I gaze up at you through
Lowered lashes

Fold my arms
Beneath my breasts
And touch the heart
That hammers almost visibly
Against my skin

Your speech will slow
And silence will engulf us
As the air between us
Heats with promise

I said that
I would fight love
I never said
That I’d fight fair

I'm either a transplanted East Coaster or a born again West Coaster. My heart kept pulling me toward Oregon, and when I followed it I found my dream, which I am living daily. My dream of becoming a writer has come true as well. I am in the company of people who speak my language, and the sense of community is healing hurts I didn't know were there. I am very grateful for my enormous good fortune.

  1. The making up can be so much fun. I have often wondered if the argument was just so that they could make up afterward.
