Psalm 151

PSALM 151

Oh I have walked
By the peaceful waters ~
And I have heard
The forest’s call ~

I have climbed heights
And plumbed depths ~
I have loved and lost ~
And I have loved
Again
Anyway ~

I have tasted fear
And burned with rage ~
I have known hatred
And still have chosen love ~

These eyes have seen
My baby born
And my father die ~
I have watched the
Day dawn
And the sun set ~
And I have seen the Light ~

Now I see the patterns
And the characters
More clearly ~

I am adept at reading signs ~
Accumulating knowledge ~
For what future purpose
I cannot even guess ~

But in a Universe
Which operates with such
Minute attention
To detail ~
I have no doubt that
All will be revealed ~

I'm either a transplanted East Coaster or a born again West Coaster. My heart kept pulling me toward Oregon, and when I followed it I found my dream, which I am living daily. My dream of becoming a writer has come true as well. I am in the company of people who speak my language, and the sense of community is healing hurts I didn't know were there. I am very grateful for my enormous good fortune.

  1. This is wonderful! You have such a way with words Melody. Love you. This photograph made me want to climb into the boat.

  2. Lovely, as usual. I agree with Theresa – I too want to climb into that boat – in fact, I think I’ll hold the image in my mind as I meditate my way to sleep tonight. Should bring peaceful dreams.

    • Martha, thank you. I appreciate your kind words. Maybe tonight you’ll dream of the boat, with you, me and my sister, floating along, trailing our fingers in the water. See you later. 🙂
