The Final Act

I’ve heard it said that ~
In the end ~ all death is suicide ~
I didn’t understand then ~
But now perhaps
I begin to comprehend ~

How the pull of where one is ~
Can grow less potent than
The urgent call of where
One wants to be ~
How curiosity can beckon ~

This was never meant
To be forever ~
The spirit cannot be contained
Within this fragile flesh ~
For more than our
Brief moment in the
Flow of time ~

I’m looking forward
to the big adventure ~
Though I confess to
Trepidation ~ when it
Comes to passing
Through the door ~

I guess I’ll see ~

Born in a small, Illinois log cabin . . . No, that won’t work. The pampered only child of incredibly wealthy parents . . . No, that won’t fly either. Raised by French nuns after her aristocratic parents were beheaded . . . No, that’s been done! Got it: An East Coast transplant to the Pacific Northwest, this notoriously late bloomer began her new life with a new career as a writer and blogger. She has taken to both the new location and the career move like a duck to water. Writing is a new adventure, and our intrepid risk-taker is diving in, feeling right at home and making new friends. Reached for comment, she replied, “Okay, I wrote my bio, now may I Please go out and play?” We expect great, or perhaps merely more coherent, things from this writer. (Okay, that’s a wrap. What a wacko!)

  1. I think we all start to think of these things as we age. Very nice. I have a new one too https://aheartonthematter.com/2019/02/08/a-letter-to-my-11-year-old-self/. I hope you are having a good 2019 so far. 🙂

  3. Oh wow. Beautifully stated. My thoughts exactly but I’d never be able to put into words such as yours. Thanks for sharing.

  4. What a wonderful and new way to perceive the dwindling years one faces. There is none among us who doesn’t dwell upon our own earthly end.
