The blinders from

Filled up with love
Crowd out all
Baser feelings
As the Light
Destroys the
Darkness
In its loving

The only force

Against which
There is no
Defense

You came to me when
I was lost in darkness
You put out your hand
And it was all that
I could see ~ still
I blew out the candle
That it held and cursed
You and the darkness
That once again descended
I gave back anger when
You offered only love
But you persisted ~ and
Slowly I followed your voice
Until the darkness lifted
And I could see once more
Could see and hear and feel
And now you say you fear
The love I feel for you is
Only gratitude for my healing
That in time it will fade and
This time it will be you who
Is lost and alone in the dark
But I swear to you my love
On all that I hold dear
That as long as I have strength
To hold your hand and heart
We are safe in each other’s arms
So long as we both shall live

Do I run because I am afraid …
I’ve changed identities
Five times at least and
I’ve run so fast and far
I’m right back where
It all began ~ where
First I realized my place
In this strange game
That we are playing
Tell me ~ am I the only one
Who sees the movement
Within the movement ~ the
Shadows beneath the light
The darkness before the
Catastrophe
And I am a hopeful soul
By nature ~ disposed to
See the best in others
Extending the benefit of
Reasonable doubt beyond
All normal boundaries
But neither am I one to
Suffer evil men with ill
Intentions in a kindly
Blindly way ~ forgiving
Unforgivable transgressions
And all the while
The spotlight shines upon
The greasy pancake
Over the artificial tan line
And the uneasy arrangement
Of the hair
Do you think that I will
Awaken soon in my own world

There were elements
Of alchemy
Throughout the house ~
The very air was filled
With mystery ~
And in the darkness ~
Deeper shadows lurked
And moved ~
Hinting of matters
Sacred and profane ~
Of secrets too long kept
And far too dangerous ~
Ever to see
The light of day ~
I don’t know
What drew me in ~
How I came to be
Standing as if
Mesmerized ~
But I sense that
It is time
For me to go ~
What was I thinking ~
I should never have
Unlatched the door ~
But as I reach for it
The handle turns ~
And slowly the door
Opens inward toward me ~
And I know my fate
Is sealed ~
