A lovely Spring Foams onto the horizon Where it shimmers For a brief few weeks Before disappearing As quickly as it came
It leaves in its place An embarrassment almost Of greenery and a palette Full of summer blooms So achingly beautiful that I can hardly bear it
I have wondered often if A person can die of Too much joy ~ simply Overload and expire of Ecstasy at the beauty and The mystery of it all
I give my arm a gentle pinch Only to find that I’m still here Relief and disappointment Mingle but here I am where I Should be and I give myself to The miracle of this Spring day
There were elements Of alchemy Throughout the house The very air was filled With mystery
And in the darkness Deeper shadows lurked And moved Hinting of matters Sacred and profane
Of secrets too long kept And far too dangerous Ever to see The light of day
I don’t know What drew me in How I came to be Standing as if Mesmerized But I sense that It is time For me to go
But as I reach for it The handle turns And slowly the door Opens inward toward me
And I know my fate Is sealed

Ending the Fairy Tale
I stand as if transfixed The power of speech Has left me Is it fear I feel or is it More anticipation
Subconsciously I knew Of course that I was On a risky path Perhaps that’s why the House called out to me So strongly
And now I hear the House’s heartbeat Or is it mine Deep silence has blocked out All other sound And as the door swings Open ~ it takes nothing From the hush
An actual tall dark Stranger ~ blocks the Doorway side to side He lifts the lamp he Carries ~ and scans My face
He takes my hand And lifts it to his lips I’ve been waiting For you I’m so glad you’re Here at last
My heart has called you And as you surely see My house could use A woman’s touch
And then he smiles And I can see This is no stranger I’ve seen his face In countless dreams Now they’ve come true
It was my better angel Led me here ~ that We might find our love

I stand at the edge of the woods ~
Trying to see into the darkness
Of the forest ~ as the music of the bells
Rings in my ears and my heart ~
Falling invisibly round my face and hair
Like showers of crystal ice and fire ~
I follow the trail of candles that
Suddenly appears between the trees ~
Beckoning me ever deeper ~ calling me
Into the mystery and the magic ~
The beauty of the music still thrills
My spirit to its core ~ and I am moved
And shaken ~ and stirred to depths
I did not know my soul possessed ~
The grace of special moments
Such as these ~ is that they take you
Higher than you have ever been before ~
Unable to fall back to where you were ~
And longing to fly higher ~ steeped
In beauty and in light and love ~
This photo invokes images of such freedom, abandon, passion and joy! It radiates exaltation in the pure state of being. This is one of a series of studies of lightning, and in some of them the tone is one of darkness, relieved but not brightened by, more tentative spears of light. The one that graces this article makes me think of a flower, transparent and intricate, offering its beauty and mystery with the innocence of an angel. And there is one that looks like a fairy, summoning a star. What must it be like to stand in the heart of the flame and embrace the impossible? See what dreams have been sparked, merely gazing into these portraits of light?
It reminds me that many years ago I was discussing electricity with a friend, a very intelligent man whose intellect I respected. He told me then that even the best of scientists have only a limited knowledge of how electricity works. Much is known of its properties and their effects, but as far as a nuts-and-bolts understanding of the way it actually works, they’re pretty much still in the dark, as it were.
Another paradox! Or is it merely a riddle? How can creatures made up of tiny whirling bits of light ever be in the dark? So many tantalizing questions, so many answers there for the searching out. In defense of the computer, at least no one need be bored any more, when whole new worlds beckon from every portal. That’s where I found these lovely photos (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/01/30/images-of-electricity-pho_n_442631.htmlI), which I am pleased to share with you.
